Here is a compilation of Classical Recordings done at the Jacobs School of Music. These range from String Quartets to Movie Scores! My roles vary from Mixing Engineer to Recording Engineer.
This rock song featured over eighty recorded audio tracks to put together. Through tight vocal harmonies and crying guitar solos, this song certainly was a challenge to record, mix, and edit.
The world of Jazz recording is a special one, it takes preparation and skill under pressure. Here are a few tracks from some very talented musicians!
Performed by a local Bloomington Euphonium Quartet, this classical recording demonstrated a strong understanding of stereo microphone placement in an outdated performance venue.
This soundscape is the collection of nearly seventy separate nature and organic recordings combined into one. This process demanded extreme discipline, preparation, and understanding in one's field. The recordings were done over the period of about three months.
My goal for this recording (as an engineer and performer) was to complete this recording in under an hour. Setup, Performance, Mixing, and Editing. This process was a test of muscle memory and skill under restraint.
This recording challenged interpersonal and producer skills. Jenna, a classically trained opera singer who has travelled the globe performing, had minimal experience in the recording studio. This is the recording that resulted.
Recorded in May 2023, this project was a test of my skills not only as an Engineer, but as a Producer. This song, which is very emotive and captivating, required a clear vision and performance style that I aided Jenna in achieving.
This recording, all parts performed by one person, is an example of precise overdub recording techniques. This kind of song needs many layers which requests of an engineer much preparation and speed when working during the session.
Here is a snippet from the final song of the Act 1 from the Opera Anne Frank. As a mixer it is my job to dial in what changes are needed during a performance. One does not want to be making very large movements during a live show/broadcast. Since this show was very well rehearsed and prepared for you see me making very small adjustments.
Throughout my years as an Engineer, Musician, and Collaborator I have worked in a very dynamic atmosphere of genre and performer. This compilation reflects that. The listed tracks below have all been recorded, mixed and or performed by me. Enjoy!
